Production

I have historically done my own production on the corporate sites I designed, and shifting gears to being a Production Artist is a shift that I easily manage. I feel that being a Production Artist has honed my skills as a designer, because I learn what pitfalls design can have when it gets to the cutting and integration stage.

Organic

Organic has provided an excellent space for me to learn new skills and hone my existing ones. I worked on a number of projects as a Production Artist in the Engineering Department.

  • Sprint

    March 2004
I recently completed a set of campaigns for Sprint PCS, where I created images for their current promotions. The images needed to conform with their existing standards, and I worked with another designer to create and revise images, and create mockups to present to the client. Upon approval, I produced the images and delivered them in the specified format.

  • Washington Mutual
My tasks center mainly around Washington Mutual's partner site where I extend the design by making new headers, optimize new logos and create icons. The initial task I did for this project was to prepare HTML and JSP templates for a home loan approval web-based application. This was a rebranding of an existing web-based application, and I cut the existing graphics, made new ones where necessary, and made HTML templates. After making these templates, I broke them apart for use in the JSP templates, and did some light integration.

Among the latest projects I have completed for Washington Mutual are the production of their quarterly newsletters. I receive the final revisions of the newsletter in Photoshop, and I cut the graphics and create HTML code in compliance with their standards.

  • Williams-Sonoma: Pottery Barn Teen and West Elm
I was the Production Artist for Pottery Barn Teen. I worked with the Engineers, the Client and the Designers to coordinate graphic naming conventions, and to get design standards for incidental graphics that needed to be made. I also built the intranet for this project, updating contact information as people phased in and out through the project's duration. I tracked the graphics to ensure that no header, button or image gets cut twice, and to cross-reference which Photoshop comp included which button and header.

After the completion of graphic production for PBTeen, I was hired to replace the production artist for West Elm. In this capacity, I received the Illustrator files from the Designer, and converted those to Photoshop files to cut and optimize. I made graphics where necessary, and advised on graphic optimization questions that arose. I tracked the graphics, and delivered specific sizes of headers, buttons and hero images to the client for use with their dynamic image-generation system.

I also worked on projects for big-name companies such as Microsoft, Virgin Music, Intuit TurboTax, LEMO, Symantec, and Wynn Resorts.

Ensim

Aside from designing for Ensim, I also did production for them. Production centered mainly around modifying existing banners they have to update the text or create a new message. For the tradeshows they went to, I produced CD covers for each of their products, and I also updated their existing datasheets to reflect more current information.

On a smaller scale, I would help out with various mini-projects their Marketing Department would get periodically. Among these was a color update to their logo, and creating illustrations and templates for their Powerpoint presentations.

August 2004
I completed a set of graphics for Ensim's current promotion. These graphics involve recreating left hand navigation buttons to match their current standards, as well as creating a new hero image for the storefront landing page.

Shaklee

At Shaklee I produced HTML newsletters designed by their in-house staff. The newsletters were for their campaign targeting the Latino community. Aside from newsletters, I also converted their Powerpoint presentations into Acrobat PDF format so that they can be uploaded for their Sales Leaders to view and use.
